The Fillmore Auditorium, Denver CO hosts LOONA’s fourth concert on their 1st World Tour: LOONATHEWORLD. This event visually displays Korean POP culture’s expanding reach on social media platforms as their international fans flock to the venue hours before the start of the concert. LOONA fans bring a type of energy that is uplifting and absolutely chaotic—a buzz of emotions that can be felt even whilst standing in line. The back-and-forth exchange of positivity between strangers, the overall concern fans have for each other due to the long hours under the sun, and the sense of unity under the band members and culture surrounding LOONA make the experience unforgettable.

At 7:30 PM LOONA opens powerfully with a performance of “So What.” The edgier, girl-crush concept immediately hyping up the audience. Soon after, comes one of the highlights of the concert: “Butterfly,” one of their most popular songs due to the intricate formations and melodic vocals. Between the shows, they play LOONA’s Got Talent on the big screen—a video with a game show concept where members show off unique talents in a comedic way. As a twelve member group, this is a clever way to display the personalities of individual members as well as show the comfortable bond they share with each other.

As artists and performers, LOONA provides a unique experience to their fans. People enter the venue knowing the inner workings of the group—whether it be the recurring symbols that appear in the group’s music videos, the lore behind those videos, or the colors on the lightstick that represent each of the members. This previous knowledge allows for communication between the artists and audience throughout the performance. It is clear that the show was designed with this interactiveness in mind as the members’ make it a point to make lasting connections with their audience. At one point, the venue lights up coral as the fans show their love to Chuu, the member who couldn’t join her group for the world tour.

The concert ends strong with a performance of Paint The Town. The uniformity throughout the choreo and the fierce energy makes a lasting impression on their audience before they exchange parting words. An exceptional experience with nice people who celebrate unity and acceptance, whilst also genuinely caring for the well-being of the artists makes the day worthwhile.
