K-Pop Sensation Kyuhyun’s “Phantom the Musical” is Coming on the 6th

The Movie Can Be Watched at the Harkins Theatres in Arvada

The world renowned musical with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston is coming to Colorado.
Featuring K-Pop star Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, soprano Sunhae Im and world class ballerina Joowon Kim, “Phantom” is an eye-dazzling and ear-pleasing take on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel “The Phantom of the Opera.” “Phantom the Musical Film” delivers a deep lingering impression to the audience that is unique and different from existing musical movies. It is a production that not only combines musical theatre, ballet and opera, but embodies the essence of the performing arts.

It’s arrival on U.S. cinema screens is a first for a South Korean theater work.
It was Kyuhyun’s first attempt to play the Phantom, while his musical debut was in 2010 as d’Artagnan in “The Three Musketters.” Since then, he has perfromed in various musical shows including “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Days,” “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “Robin Hood,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “The Man who Laughs” and “Mozart!”


The musical fans in Coloado are already excited to watch the movie. Captured on film by WYS EN SCENE from the Charlotte Theater is presented in Korean with English subitles. Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel, the musical version was first premiered in 1991, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Arthur Kopit. Both the international version and the Korean production of the musical have been much loved by Korea’s Phantom fans. The film version has met mutiple successes in its recent runs not only in Korea but also in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.


The story takes places in Paris, late 19th century. Gifted with musical genius and cursed with a monstrous face, Erik lives in hiding deep in the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House. When he hears Christine Daae’s angelic voice, he is suddenly determined to make her his new diva. Carlotta, the opera house’s resident diva, is overcome with jealousy and devises a plan to ruin Christine’s debut performance. Hence, Erik gets enraged and takes his revenge upon Carlotta, setting in motion a series of events that leads to the revelation of his past and his tragic demise.


Super Junior Kyuhyun’s “Phantom: The Musical Live” will open on November 6th and 7th at 2p.m. and tickets can be purchased through https://www.harkins.com/movies/phantom-the-musical-live-subtitled/2022-11-06. The exact address of the theatres is 5550 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002. The admission fee is $18 for adults and $14 for a child. According to the Harkins Theatres, the full showtime schedules are usually available on Wednesdays for the upcoming Friday until next Thursday. A partial schedule may be available further in advance for major releases. “Phantom” runs 177 minutes, which includes a 7 minute intermission.
